Penryn, California is located about 30 miles northeast of Sacramento. There are a number of homes for sale in Penryn Ca. It is a small, vibrant community, which focuses on individuals and families.
The town of Penryn began when European American Griffith Griffith came to the area just before the end of the Civil War. Originally from Wales, he founded a granite quarry and eventually named it Penrhyn Quarry. The name can mean "headland" in the Welsh language. Over time, the area began to develop as homes and businesses were built. A United States Post Office came to Penryn in 1873. The community continued to grow and develop as Penryn Ca real estate was developed.
According to the United States Census in 2010, the population of Penryn was 831. The majority of residents in town are European American, with other residents being of African American, Native American, Asian American and Hispanic American descent. About 30% of the population had children living in them who were under the age of 18. About 22% of the population was under 18. Young adults between the ages of 18 to 24 made up 8% of the population. Folks between the ages of 25 to 44 were 21% of the population. The majority of the population was been the ages of 45 to 64 at 32%. Senior citizens accounted for about 15% of the population of Penryn.
One of the most popular places to visit in town is the Griffith Quarry. Located off Taylor Road, Griffith Quarry takes residents and visitors back in time, as they explore the work and times of the Quarry. Folks can tour the Museum free and view documents and equipment used by Griffith Griffith and his employees. The grounds have 23 acres for visitors to walk about and explore. On the other side of town off English Colony Way is the Traylor Ranch Bird Sanctuary and Nature Reserve. Kids and adults are sure to enjoy this area of over 90 acres of prestine land. There are trails to hike and places to explore. Animals that can be found in the area include deer and the occasional mountain lion. Bird enthusiasts are sure to enjoy the large selection of birds that live in the area.
